Brazilian Girls--they're not what you think!

Monday, July 18, 2005

The Brazilian Girls, contrary to popular belief, are not Brazilian. Neither are they girls.

Well, not all of them, at least. One is a girl.  But she’s German/Italian and speaks about 4 or 5 different languages. The other three members are boys. Men. Whatever.

In any case, we (Courtney, Daryl, Meredith and I) headed out to Rumsey Playfield to check out the Brazilian Girls live at Central Park’s SummerStage concert series. I actually got IN to the playfield this time! The past couple of concerts, I’ve only been able to sit in the woodchips behind the playfield. So I thought I’d revel in the fact that I’m in by sitting back on our blanket on the Astroturf to the side of the stage. As I am leaning there, I notice the women in front of us have this funny stain on their pants; it looks like…you know. EW!

BUT the minute I thought that, I realized that it was NOT what I had thought originally. The way I knew was because it was mud…and it was seeping through the blanket onto MY pants. I had forgotten that I rained earlier that day, so whatever ungodly type of dirt was residing beneath the Astroturf was worming it way through layers and layers of stuff just to leave its nasty imprint on my butt.

BUT that didn’t matter much after the torrential downpour began. It started as an innocent sprinkle, but that didn’t last long. Those were some of the biggest raindrops I’ve ever experienced! And it just kept coming and coming! It was sort of like the tales of Woodstock. It made it feel like a real concert! It made the music even more fun! I gotta say though, it got a little uncomfortable when it became clear that some of the women wearing white skirts and pants were not wearing underwear. Yeek!

The Brazilian Girls didn’t need much help (either from the rain or the big underwear-less girls) performing a great show! They were awesome! Check them out of you have time!

  1. Gee, what is that liquid stuff falling from the sky?  Looks scary.  Glad we don’t get any of that stuff down here.
