Calm before the storm

I have less than 3 hours before i leave New York for good (for now).
It’s weird looking at my room, which is spotless (nothing short of a miracle) and has nothing in it. The bed is even turned back to being at a 90 degree angle from the wall instead of the weird diagonal i had it at before. My bags are packed. I’m ready to go. I’m leaving ona jetplane. But as the minutes count down, it makes me think about my stay here.
In this last year…
1. Two of my classmates who met during our program got engaged! Congratulations guys! It’s even funnier because I was their partner in a group project when they first started dating, but didn’t figure it out til 9 months later! Ay!
2. I learned to be more assertive and stand up for myself should the need arise.
3. I really appreciated public transit, despite strikes, crazy people and “random” bag checks by police.
4. I have eaten some of the best food in my life. And a LOT of it!
5. I have FINALLY earned a free flight from JetBlue from flying back and forth between Cali and NYC
6. No matter how hard i tried, i couldn’t seem to explain what my degree was all about! “It’s Educational Communication and Technology.” “Wha...?!?”
7. I found friends that are willing to play my silly games and come to strange social events (i.e. White Elephant Gift Giving & Stealing)
8. I have learned to cook (if you count stir-fyring everything within an inch of its life)
9. More importantly I discovered how to order in for food. 
10. I found that the t-shirts are right: I really DO love New
It’s been a good time. I hope everyone gets a chance to have an experience like this, where you find kindred spirits and share a wonderful time getting to know each other and exploring new and interesting things!

To Kat, thanks for renewing my faith in: “Sex and the City,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Keeping the Faith,” “Kissing Jessica Stein”...the love letter to New York list goes on and on. Most of all, thanks for sharing all of it here with us!
