First Foray into the World of Warcraft

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

I have finally joined the geek nation. I now play WoW.

Am i proud or ashamed? Hehehe we have yet to see. Slim visited this past week and got me all set up and ready to go, acting as my personal tutor/guide. I’m a night elf named Yukarichan. Isn’t she cute?

I’m such a noob at all this. I’m not always sure where to go or what to do, but it’s kind of fun. And mildly addictive. Uh oh. What to do...finish my thesis or play WoW? So many tough decisions to make…

My character is a hunter, which means i get a pet. Ooooooh. Cute fluffy animals. I’m going to uber cute her out. Now i can hang out with people online! I wonder what server my Nebraskan WoW-playing friends Les and Laura are on.

Anyway, this is a huge breakthrough in my fear of games! Woohoo! And i have Slim and my Educational Communication and Technology program for tearing down those barriers! I now have legitimate experience in the gaming world that allows me to interact and converse intelligently with those in my field of scholarship regarding the possibility of games as an educational tool as well as slaughter harmful (and sometimes fluffy) creatures for the sake of collecting random bits of loot and money. Ah, my life is now complete!

  1. we be playing Horde characters on the Elune server. Which server are you guys on?

If we decide to do alliance alts maybe we’ll come find ya.

btw… hunters are cool. The first 10 lvls suck, but then you get a pet and life gets better. lvl 30-40 suck, but then you get better armor and cooler shots which make lvl 40-50 really, really fun.

  2. Dude...or, should I say...DUDETTE! Yukarichan is what I would call “killer-cute,” as opposed, of course, to just cute.
