I Heart Star Wars Geeks

At the last Hollywood Bowl concert of the weekend, we got a pleasant surprise!
The last concert was John Williams doing movie music. We went there, fully expecting to hear all the iconic classics that he composed, like Jaws, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and others. BUT the first half was filled with a “Celebration” of music from the past. In other words, the first half was completely boring. -____-
Thank goodness for the second half! It started slow, with a couple of unnamed movie tunes that we couldn’t figure out. But then he busted out with Superman and it was the beginning of greatness! But it wasn’t until the encores that it really started going. He kept coming out with more and more famous songs.
The best part was when he brought out the Imperial March. Suddenly the light sabers popped up out of nowhere! To the left of us, we heard a couple of guys shouting, “Go go go!” Then these guys with light sabers can rushing down the bowl from the top in the nose bleed section charging down to see how far down to the orchestra pit they could go. It was AWESOME! It was like a military campaign! And let me add that they were probably NOT kids. Most likely grown men, reliving their childhood dream of charging someone in public with light sabers.
Here’s a vid of that moment. I was fortunate enough to catch it. And you can hear great music! :D Enjoy.
(Update: The video above is experiencing some technical difficulties. Please check back again later!)
Wow, that was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Well, not really, but…
Wow. I was just saying they were holding them things pretty tamely and ought to be fighting, when… they did! Kudos galore.
And I don’t know about that cheap imitation flashlight version someone had of a green one on the left, or that similar red one in the distance.
Thankfully no one had the tacky colored sabers that Lucas added in the prequels. It seems the fans had better taste, haha. Anyway, I stand in awe with you at their greatness, Kat.
