Into the Wilderness

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Well, Palmdale isn’t exactly wilderness, but it sure is out in the middle of nowhere!

This is going to be a short post, as I am scurrying around trying to pack and at the same time take care of an assortment of miscellaneous tasks that have crowded out the packing at hand. The good part is that I’ve now taken care of my monthly loans payment, paid all the bills, cooked a copious amount of food to keep ahead of spoiling vegetation in my fridge and even (sort of) packed!

I’m heading out to Palmdale for work. I’ll actually get to stay over in a hotel on the company’s tab. Weird. I think the last time i went anywhere with a company, i almost had to split a room with my boss and Leslie. While that’s all fine and good for friend vacations to pile into one room, it’s quite another thing for a company to *not* foot the bill when you’re their for its financial gain. In the end, the hotel also thought it was inappropriate and provided a room for me, free of charge. Yay!

So I go. I stay. I burn up in the desert heat. Then leave.

This is the exciting time ahead of me. Oh, and lots of driving. Pray for me that I stay alive on the journey there and back!

  1. heh. yeah, isn’t it odd to work for someone who...cares...or, at the very least, shows their love monetarily? We’re getting some of that with Leslie’s company, too, and it’s just a bit overwhelming!

have fun in Palmdale - what are you doing out there?

  2. I was training the receptionist staff on the messaging software in the organization. It’s just one small piece of whole puzzle. Gotta start small when you’re the new trainer!

And you know what? It wasn’t that bad! I mean, there’s nothing out there, but besides that, if you only spend one night, it’s not that horrible.
