Kathy the Chaperone

Saturday, July 23, 2005

The words “Kathy” and “chaperone” should never be together in the same sentence…

...unless concluding that “Kathy” needs a “chaperone” or the word “NOT” is somewhere in between.

But here i am, 15 minutes from heading off to the ENDS OF THE EARTH (Queens borough) on a weeklong summit (actually more like a poli-sci camp) for high schoolers wanting to learn about how to fight global poverty. While i’m excited, I’m also a little...stressed and worried.

So i’m asking all of you out there, PLEASE PRAY FOR US, FOR THE KIDS, THE OTHER CHAPERONES BUT MOST OF ALL FOR ME, WHO HAS NEVER WORKED IN THIS CAPACITY WITH KIDS BEFORE. thanks.

I won’t be able to update very often since my web access will be limited. (You know, we’re out in *Queens* and who knows if they’ve even heard of the internet yet. Ok, i’m just kidding. I have nothing against Queens.) I’ll get back to you guys as soon as possible!

  1. You’ll love taking care of teens.  But then, I might be a little biased.

Just make sure you’re not the one that has to make and enforce the rules.  That’s fun in a sadistic sort of way, but not for first timers.

Oh, and try to remember all the pranks you pulled on your counselors/chaperones.  They are recycled in very creative variations.

    Have fun!

  2. You still alive?

    No one’s spontaniously combusted?

    Good.
