Kirstin & Gabi get married!

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

One of my best friends got married this past Sunday; it was BEAUTIFUL!

So sorry for the long silence, everyone, but I’ve just moved and have no internet connection. -__- (cry cry) I feel like a fish without a bicycle. Very very sad.

That being said, I HAVE to post about this momentus occassion because KIRSTIN GOT MARRIED! There was a time when the 4ks (or “forks"), a group composed of Kirstin, Kar-Yee, Kimi and myself would ponder who would get married first. While there was no clear leader in this race, Kirstin was certainly not a front-runner. In actuality, none of us were front-runners, which made us sort of have to contemplate who would get married *last* rather than first.

In any case, I got to be her maid of honor. I did none of the traditional maid of honor things. I did not plan her bachelorette party or her bridal shower. I did not plan everything with her and her mother. I was, quite honestly, a pretty sucky maid of honor. But i sure can wield and xacto knife. I made lots of invitations and programs and the like. And i *did* offer a toast during the reception that mentioned the terms, “mullet” and “burly drag queen.” I thought that was quite an accomplishment. I’m not really sure why i’m going into all this, but it *is* my blog, so I suppose i can go where ever my little heart desires.

And right now, it desires to go onto the pics of Kirstin’s wedding. Kimi has this really great pic that she did some work on. Click on the pic to see some of Kimi’s other pics.

Here are a couple of mine. Can you believe i only took 6 pictures that day? Yeek! i’m losing my touch!

Kirstin and her crumpettes!

Gabi’s mom walked in and almost disolved in tears when she saw Kirstin.

CONGRATULATIONS KIRSTIN AND GABI!

  1. Your pictures are so pretty!!!  (Did I tell you that Jill’s mom commented, “Kirstin, you were a beautiful bride.  Yeah, everyone was really surprised” with Jill kicking her not-so-surreptitiously under the table.  Kat, you were a great maid of honor.  We all pitched in and covered our own area - and as a result, I had much more beautiful and unique invitations and programs than I ever could have imagined, much less hoped for.  Thank you so much.  I miss all you guys, and pathetic as it may sound, Gabi and I agree that it was at least ONE of the best days of our lives, if not the very best.  Couldn’t have been that without you.

    Love, SuperK.  heh heh

  2. Oh, and Kar-yee and Kimi were in competition for marriage front-runners, since both wanted kids and one wants to be a stay-at-home mom.  You and I, well, not so much.  Kathy’s blog audience, did she happen to tell you that during her maid of honor speech, she announces to all the guests that one of the things that brought us together was the fact that neither of us wanted kids, ever.  I thought I heard Gabi’s mom swoon, poor dear.  Alright, the new pact is that we’ll never make our kids wear stupid outfits (unless it’s for our own amusement), and we’ll never do the “I live for my kids” thing.  I mean, sure, provide for and nurture, but don’t make them responsible for all your happiness.  Somehow, though, I don’t think we’re in any danger.

    Love,
    K
