Omega-3 Calculator

I’m posting one of my projects so you can see what i’m doing in school.
One of my classes is in Macromedia Director and another class is in Cognitive Science. I combined the final projects for both classes into one loverly deliverable! Well, calling it a deliverable is a strong term for this thing.
Just for some background, the point of the Director class was just to get us to use director to make something that challenged us. The CogSci project was to choose a target demographic and a topic of instruction and then create an entire multimedia project taking into account Cognitive Load Theory and the generative theory of Multimedia Learning. At the end, we had a presentation with a walk-through of how our project would work, but most of this was done in a design doc. The walk-through was just to give you the briefest of ideas.
Our idea was to teach pregnant low socio-economic women in New York City the benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids in alleviating symptoms of postpartum depression. A kiosk would go in community clinics all over New York. It would be mostly video based with some interactives and textual resources. The Omega-3 calculator is in the “What’s Omega-3?” section.
So here it is! My Omega-3 Calculator!! You will need the shockwave player, so if you don’t have it, go get the Shockwave Player now!
What do you think? BTW, the calculator part is the most functional part, but the main navigation works. You can browse through some of the activities. Some go 3 layers deep. Anyway, just give it a run-through.
hey kat, it looks great! it’s a very clean look & easy to navigate… i like!
the calculator was pretty nifty, but the text (when the food was in the calculator - the name and amount of omega-3) wasn’t displaying well on either firefox/explorer/opera, it was splotchy. is that a function of director? that’d probably also be why when i hit back on my browser it took me outta the site…
good job putting it together, though… it’s cool to see what you’ve been learning. no one would ever wanna read the projects i do for my masters =) but your projects are sooo much prettier!
is this actually gonna be displayed in clinics? with text in spanish, korean, and what is that - japanese? that’s pretty awesome!

Btw, cool calculator thingy. ;)

Posted by kimi =) on 05/11 at 04:45 PMSorry about the rss feed thingy. I’ll try to figure it out when my brain is more intact. I just got back from my last final and I’m barely alive...Thanks for letting me know! It’s good to know when things aren’t working correctly.
