Orange Blossom Festival: A week late, but no bucks short
Tuesday, May 30, 2006
I’m late reporting, but two weekends ago, I went to the Riverside Orange Blossom Fesitval.
It was basically a giant “market night” with booths from local restaurants and other fair foods. There were also stages for various musicians from the local radio stations to perform. All of this was great and all, but the thing that stood out this year was the bull.
Yes, you read right. The bull. At the end of one of the streets, they had set up a cushioned bounce-house like rodeo bull so you could ride and then be thrown off without hurtin yourself severely. I have NEVER had even the slightest inkling to try one of these machines, but it seems fate had another idea.
And by fate, i mean Perry. (See picture below of Kimi and Perry. Kimi is the girl. Perry is the guy. Just pointing out the obvious.)
So Perry gets it into his head that he wants all three of us girls, Kimi, Rita and me to ride the wild mechanical bull. NO WAY we said in unison. They were both wearing skirts afterall! He and his friends cajoled and weedled, but to no avail. Perry even bought tickets for 3 rides at $5 a ride. Ok, we were committed. Or rather, Perry was committed. So finally he gave up trying to convince us, and jumped into the padded ring.
The bull bucked and span around at nausea-inducing speed, but Perry held on pretty well. After he flew off for the third time, he bounced back to the entrance of the “corral” panting about how fun it was. Ok, FINE! I’ll go then! So i jumped into the ring and then rode that cow! I stayed on pretty well, but that was probably because the operator guys said, “Do you want it slow and easy so you can stay on?” Of COURSE that’s exactly what I want!
Below is the documentation that semi-proves this story.
It was actually fun. Thanks Perry for making me do something uncomfortable!
yesh, thanks perry for buying us the tickets! hopefully next time i won’t be wearing a skirt so i can join in on the fun too =)
(btw, who’da thunk i’d be wearing skirts voluntarily!)
glad u had fun, kat!
