Pilates and Ice Cream

There is nothing quite as satisfying as destroying all your calorie-burning efforts in one fell swoop.
I woke up today with the intent to do absolutely nothing. I mean, really, NOTHING. And then i remembered the 2 steaks i ate yesterday and thougt the better of it. I’m not a big beef eater, so yesterday almost did me in. I can almost feel my arteries hardening as we speak and perhaps a prion of “mad cow disease” floating around in me somewhere. Needless to say, i suddenly felt the urge to be active...but only in concept.
The idea of actually going outside and running or going to the gym really did nothing for me. It’s cold and gray outside. It’s even spitting/drizzling a little. Ick. So no going outside today. I refuse.
That’s when i happened upon my roommate’s Pilates DVD. Ah ha! Easy! Inside! Embarassing, yes but no one is home this weekend! And surely this is far *less* embarassing than the Kickboxing with Kathy Smith DVD I tried last week.
So i popped in the DVD and took to it. For a 25 minute workout, it took me forever to finish it! Phone calls kept interupting me. But then the workout itself seemed pretty, well, lame. It did each exercise about 4 times and then moved on. They spent most of the time just explaining the move and about 2 seconds actually doing it. Go figure. So by the end of the DVD, i had come to the conclusion that I am very unlimber and also barely broke a sweat, mostly cuz i was spending time trying to figure out what the heck they were doing.
SO i rewared myself for getting through the *very* difficult exercise and ate 2 scoops of ice cream. YUM! And considering i probably burned no more than 25 calories doing the Pilates DVD, i would say that I am at a net loss of -300 calories (-25 for DVD +325 for ice cream).
I think i’ll try pilates/ice cream workout again tomorrow. It was very gratifying.
