Please, you don’t want me to die out here in NYC, do you? Fer cryin’ out loud! Teach me how to cook!
I’ve been pretty much cooking what i can make up with about 3 types of seasonings and 1 meat plus a bunch of vegetables. I’m running out of ideas. I just bought a pack of Japanese style curry. Yay! I found a *really* small japanese store near NYU. It’ll do until i can find a bigger Japanese market.
But back to the task at hand, i STARVE folks! Losing weight is great and all until you realize it’s because you’re MALNOURISHED! just kidding everyone, it’s not that bad. I’m painting a picture of a dark existence. heheh i’m just trying to inspire you to clicky on the “comment” button and tell me your favorite/do-able recipe.
THANK YOU!
well, i only know how to cook when large groups of peoples are coming over, so this page of recipes might not be that much help. course, you could also be like shelia and do a big bunch of beans at once and then eat it for weeks =) but seriously, i’m back online (yayayayay!!!!) and i’ll be updating this page, so there’ll be more recipes. lemme know whatcha want and i’ll post it too. (chicken salad, cottage cheese loaf, whatever you want). enjoy =)

Here is a great receipe that will make you waffle royalty as well.
Step 1) Make a waffle.
Step 2) Smoother it in peanut butter.
Step 3) Smoother it in syrup or honey.
Step 4) Fry meaties in lots of oil.
Step 5) Fry po-ta-toes in lots of oil.
Step 6) Add ketchupPay special attention to steps 2,3 & 6. If you do these right, it won’t really matter how you do on the others.
You may now bake in my wisdom.
Posted by The Waffle King on 09/03 at 08:07 PMHmph. Being married to the Waffle King all these years certainly hasn’t paid off. We NEVER have waffles. booooo.
Our staple foods here are uber-quesadillas. I buy the 5 pound bag of skinny mozarella at Sam’s Club and a huge bag of tortillas. I toast the tortilla on once side, flip it and add a handful of cheese and a couple squirts of green tabasco. Then I just stuff in whatever vegetables we’ve got laying around and let it all melt together.
Sometimes we have bell peppers and tomatoes, sometimes spinach, almost always some form of “meat” so it sticks to our ribs.
The other boon to our diet is MEUSLI!!
- 3 cups quick oats
- 2 cups store bought interesting cereal like Special K Red Berries or Honey Bunches of Oats
- 1/4 cup mixed nuts
- 1/4 cup raisins or other dried fruit (i’m using dates right now; have done blueberries, coconut, etc)
- dash of cinnamon (optional)Shove that all in a bag or large poury container and shake it up. Pour it in a bowl and add milk or soy juice on it just enough to get it wet but not covered. YUM! It really is the BEST breakfast around.
- dash of cinnamon
Posted by on 09/07 at 02:55 PMbeing single and living all alone, i share your desire to to cook. but since cooking for one is too much effort i eat out or bumb a meal at someone’s place . . .
here is a little easy meal
california rolls…
rice, avocado, imitation crab, mysago (the pollock eggs, the orange stuff), and nori and some alfalfa sprouts and i like to put in a little strands of japanese cucumbers.dip with a little soy sauce and wasabi with a side of pickled ginger, and… the second most important thing, Soju… i guess sake will do too. so whats the first most important ingredient ... LOVE… yeah i know its kinda cheezy, or maybe its wasabeezy. LOL

bowl of rice
mixed with the korean red bean paste
sprinked with one of those nori toppings
topped with a fried egg cooked over easy
and add a bit of sesame oil on top of all that
and mix.
its kinda a ghetto bi bim bop. minus the vegitables and meat.i dunno if you roommates are asian, so some of my other recipes might leave the korean food stink lingering for a few days after cooking…
Posted by on 09/14 at 10:36 PMWow. I can’t describe how much I have understood your situation, Kat! Deeply moving and stirs me to realize how incredibly far up the creek I’d be were it not for Yoko. And Oshou. And Makudo. And the rest of the places on the noisy Shotengai downstairs. Hey, whose city is bigger, anyway? Mine or yours?
