Typing of the Dead

In lieu of having my favorite game, Typing of the Dead, Mervyn has introduced me to this online alternative.
For those of you who never played the game, Typing of the Dead is a spin off of the arcade shooting game, House of the Dead. In the original, you kill zombies by shooting at them. In Typing of the Dead, your character on screen has a “power pack” connected to your weapon of choice - your trusty keyboard! You type words that pop-up on screen, using said keyboard and every correct letter sends a bullet towards your unsuspecting zombie target, who is still wondering why you have a keyboard strapped to you. It was strangely exhilerating. You actually had a sense of urgency about typing. “Oh no! Zombies are gonna chew on me! TYPE! TYPE!!”
If that made no sense, pay no mind.
The point is, i miss typing games. And thus, this link is the satisfaction to my craving of such games.
My first time, I got 97.5 words per minute with 3 mistakes. My second time through, i got 108 wpm and 6 mistakes. And then i got carpal tunnel syndrome.

Typing of the Dead was one of the best games ever. I loved it so much. On the Sega Dreamcast you could even play two player, which was a blast.
Anywhoo, you’re slow. 99.63, zero mistakes first time through. And that’s feeling lazy on my comfy chair reclining backward at an awkward angle

Posted by on 07/16 at 02:09 PMSusan, we’re so cool! The first two guys are just keybboardin’ freaks whose score almost made me not comment. ;) My score was in the 80’s and we all know that the 70’s and 80’s were the rockin’est time in earth’s history!
Posted by Daryl on 07/16 at 02:43 PMThe good news is that I got zero mistakes both times I tried it...but my scores were, respectively, 85.45 and 87.09 wpm. So much for the whole, “You must type fast because you’re a pianist!” thing.=)

Posted by on 07/20 at 11:40 AMi had a crazy typing teacher who would sing and dance to music while making us type - she could do something like 120 or more on our exercises, and she always claimed she could go faster if they were actual sentences that made sense!
although actually… the correlation might be between typing speed and amount of time spent on the computer! *sigh* i might chat too much
