"It's Christmas tiiiiiiime....in the city!"

Everyone needs a little bit of Christmas...even if it *is* highly commercialized and gaudy.
Despite the fact that i’m not really done with school, i decided to take the day off to be human and even to move my appendages. *That’s* something i haven’t done in awhile. So Susan and I took a stroll (read “really really long walk") all over town. It felt so nice to be outside! The day was beautiful, albeit a little cold, but that didn’t stop us from being SUPER TOURISTS today! Even people who live in NY must take that day or so to just do all the things the tourists do. It was nice. In fact, the winter season has been full of adventure!
Last weekend, I was rueing the fact that i still consider myself somewhat of a tourist. We were in the station waiting for a train. At that very moment, we spotted a very “not-city” looking older woman who may or may not have ever encountered a turnstile before trying to clambor over the entry gate. We weren’t sure if she even knew that she had to buy a pass. In any case, she had managed to straddle the top of the turning arms and had gotten stuck when all of sudden, lo and behold, the arms turned forward, dumping her onto the ground in front of the gate with gusto. At that point, i decided that i was sufficiently “New York enough” to not be considered a tourist.
Today, we got to see the spirit of kindness/Christmas as an older woman tripped and ate it head first into the corner of the pavement. Her sunglasses shattered and the left stem lodged into her face. She bled profusely. Susan flagged down police while i applied pressure to her head wound with my ample supply of tissue. Another “whole health” woman was on the scene and held the woman, perhaps trying to give her a bit of her “life energy.” It was all very fascinating. We waited with her untiil the ambulence came. Weee! Everyone was so nice!
That was followed by lots of eating, checking out a bakery with BIG BEAUTIFUL CUPCAKES called Crumbs Bakeshop, went to the Met and saw great fashion and a beautiful tree, met up with J9, Jeremy, Erica and Nathan for even *more* food and then went to my roommate’s showcase. Lots of fun. Weeeeee!
So, despite the rush of tourists, the cold, and the disappearance of friends for Christmas break, the city is still great! I Love New York!

okay, you OWE us a trip to the Crumbs Bakery when we come to visit you. Which, eventually, we will. Really. Seriously. We’ll visit, especially now that I know we can get killer baked goods! And visiting you would be alright too, I guess. Probably.
